I really enjoyed this weeks lecture by Sarah Dunant and the opportunity to explore Venice through its art from the comfort of my living room- https://www.connected.theartssociety.org/talks-lectures
It was interesting to think about how oil paint really captured the water and light of Venice. Did anyone else learn anything new from this weeks' Lecture at Home?
Sarah Dunant's historical novels are a joy to read. For me this enhanced my enjoyment of IN THE COMPANY OF THE COURTESAN. In a future lecture I would love to hear more about how Ms. Dunant researched SACRED HEARTS.
I am so glad you enjoyed the lecture Jenny!
Elizabeth, I loved this lecture ! As a lover of Italy, The Venus of Urbino is a favourite picture, so to hear more about her in a different light was fabulous. The Uffizi always credits her as the wife of a duke which never quite seemed to fit....
So now I know !
