Hi Florian. Good start yesterday with webcast and well attended. You have touched on future arrangements for a remote Directory Day....I guess using the existing Lecturer Directory on the Arts website with presentations from Lecturers...any more thoughts how this might work or when this might be available? We are amicably sorting out Lecture and Study day cancellations in Sheffield and re-booking where possible for the 2021/2022 season but we still need to identify some interesting and exciting Lectures and events.

Finally got your Youtube test- it was fine and easy peasy on my iPhone. Just finished watching Sian Walters giving her 15 min lecture on the Arnolfini portrait. Free to watch every Monday at 9.30. Getting the hang of this tech stuff 😬
Thank you Florian pretty good for a first attempt and really inspiring. helps to make people feel less isolated. We had been discussing what to use for the committee had thought zoom but will now look at teams and meet. Thanks for the tip and the offer of help if we get stuck.

Thanks Florian. I wish I were more competent at this sort of thing... I couldn't work out how to post a message during your presentation!
Thank you for your message and for taking part in the test! You should have seen a chat box on the right-hand side of your video where you can type comments. You will only be able to comment if you have a Youtube channel and when the chat is live though, I hope that is of some help!
Thank you for taking part in the test! We are hoping to let members know about the site in our next Monthly Highlights e-newsletter which will be sent out on the 7th April.
I joined the test late but restarted it and viewed it all again. Very good idea to keep us all in touch. I like the idea of our Society having a forum. Help on this would be welcome. Thanks.
Well done Florian it is brilliant how the Guildford Street team are all being so proactive. The You Tube Channel will be a very useful tool over the coming weeks I hope I can get my not so "techy" members to get involved but for me I think it will be a fantastic link especially as I am self isolating on my own and learning so many new tech skills what an unexpected bonus!!
Well done on the broadcast Florian However I could not leave a comment as it kept asking me to sign in but I'd no idea what I was signing in to. I tried old NADFAS, Hotmail, and a range of passwords. How does this work? I don't have a YouTube account (why should I?). Help please.
Also I left a comment the other night but was then excluded from replying to comments on my comment and asked to refer to the site managers. It might be useful to publish an on-line tutorial for those like me who don't use social media and manage purely on E-Mail on line.
hello, i'm sorry that you were having difficulty with this, youtube asks you to create an account so you can contribute to the discussion, so you would be able to set any password you wish. You can of course view without creating an account, you just cant take part in the discussion. Was the comment you made on the forum here?
Thank you to everyone at TAS for working so hard and fast to show what we can do for our members who are online. We will all learn more about how to use the technology as well as about The Arts.
Well done for persisting Florian! I’m sure we‘ll get there. It was so heartening to see all those live chat comments popping up on the screen. There’s a lot of goodwill and enthusiasm out there. Thanks everybody for cheering me up no end.
There is a glitch. Having made a response, I keep getting email notifications of more responses. It is going to fill up my inbox. How do I turn off the notifications? Jane TAS Taunton
I'm sure it will be possible to put together a step by step guide for our members to be able to access online lectures. We should not underestimate people in these difficult times !
It was lovely to know all of you were out there going through the same issues. A great initiative Florian. Autocorrect keeps wanting to call you Florida! 🙄🥴
I agree that there will be many members who will not be able to join in due to lack of tech skills. We mustn't forget them. That said, I'm impressed with this morning's endeavours. Well done.
Thank you all for helping with this. We will try to get back to all your comments. This is so busy, it actually feels like coming out of a lecture and trying to speak to everyone!
Hello Stephanie, we put out a message about lecturers on 25 March which you might find helpful. It can be found here: https://theartssociety.org/coronavirus
Thank you Florian. It worked really well here in the north of England. Just got to get signed on to the chat bit of You Tube which is currently a bit of a problem but I'll solve it. We've found Zoom works well for our family connections.
hello Lizzie! I’m using Zoom for Pilates classes. It’s easy to use. It would probably be easier for committee meetings which don’t involve so many Keep well
Well done - it was easy to connect to the broadcast which encourages me that it will be possible to persuade members to engage in this way. It may not be possible to get techno sceptic members to join immediately but I think that in time more will come on board.
Worked well on second attempt. Florian mentionned Exhibition on Screen and a film that we would have a preview to. Was that Eatern Art or are they the company producing it?
Hi, we will send out information again but if you have a look at Friday's bulletin you will find information there! It is a great way to engage with your Members!
Once you'd ironed out the problem it went well; a great idea to have own Youtube channel as this will be beneficial long term; I would ask viewers to subscribe.
Thank you Florian. It worked well and allowed so many to be involved. It should be a good way to keep in touch. I do however worry about the technical ability of many of our members.
Thanks. I'm not sure how many of my committee came on and I'm sure they will want to see this. So glad it wasn't me being incapable at midday. No offence!
Thank you very much for the first test webcast. Well done for getting it all working successfully Florian, this is a great way for us all to stay in touch.

These are some really good ideas

Florian, when do you want us to publicise / promote the Connect site to our members?
Like many others, this is a steep learning curve and, as I too live on my own (my dog is no use at all with technology), I am learning fast.

If you click on the link in the 2nd email, you go to the webcast recording.

I saw the second email late so joined at about 12:40. I wasn’t connected to the live stream, but to the stream from the start. So no chat.

Thank you Florian. I am one of those finding the technology difficult - possibly not ideal as a Chairman!

I think you made a point about lecturer compensation, just at the moment I lost concentration. Would love to hear/see that again.

Thank you so much. This was really useful and worked extremely well. Great ideas too. Some of our members may find the technology difficult though.
It's a great idea - well done for having a go!
Good idea can also be used for training, to avoid the echo you can use a lapel neck microphone Keep in touch. Not bad for the first time.

Worked brilliantly at the second attempt. Well done Florian.
Well done for an excellent podcast. I think the idea of fora for individual societies a very good idea

Thank you Florian - that was really good.
Thanks. I'm not sure how many of my committee came on and I'm sure they will want to see this. So glad it wasn't me being incapable at midday. No offence!
Thank you everyone for taking part, it was so lovely to see so many people watching :)
I think it's a great idea to broadcast on YouTube. The test worked well.
Definitely a worthwhile exercise! Steve P, TAS Chester
Well done Florian! Thanks everyone for helping test everything and it was great to see so many of you there!
very good and really informative. Thank you for doing this.
Much better - loud and clear.
Thank you very much for the first test webcast. Well done for getting it all working successfully Florian, this is a great way for us all to stay in touch.
Thank you Florian - it worked and so many people
Will this broadcast now be available on YouTube?
